This Privacy Policy & Terms of Use ("Policy") governs your use of warrenhamm.ca ("Website"), operated by the Warren Hamm Leadership Campaign ("Campaign," "we," "us," or "our") in support of Warren Hamm's candidacy for Leader of the Conservative Party of British Columbia. By using this Website you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the Website.
This Policy complies with the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) of British Columbia, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL), and the BC Election Act.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Information You Provide
- Contact: Name, email, phone number, mailing address
- Donations: Donation amount, payment method (processed securely via Stripe), employer and occupation (required for donations over $100 per the BC Election Act), BC residency and citizenship status
- Volunteering: Skills, availability, experience, languages spoken
- Events: RSVP details, number of guests, accessibility needs
- Membership: Information to facilitate BC Conservative Party membership sign-ups (name, address, email, phone)
- Communications preferences, survey responses, and any information submitted through forms or correspondence
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
- IP address, browser type and version, device type, operating system
- Pages visited, time on each page, referring website, date and time of visit

- Google Analytics - tracks page views, session duration, and user behaviour via cookies. Opt out here.
- Essential cookies - required for basic website functionality
- No advertising cookies - we do not use third-party advertising cookies or sell data to advertisers

1.4 Third-Party Sources
We may receive information from the BC Conservative Party (with your consent), publicly available voter information (as permitted by the BC Election Act), and your public social media profile if you interact with our pages. We do not purchase data from brokers, use credit bureaus, or scrape social media.
1.5 Sensitive Information
We do not collect sensitive personal information such as religious beliefs, health information, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or criminal history.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information only for purposes reasonably related to campaign activities:
- Process, acknowledge, and receipt donations; comply with BC Election Act financial reporting
- Send campaign updates, newsletters, event invitations, and volunteer opportunities (with your consent)
- Coordinate volunteer activities based on skills and availability
- Facilitate BC Conservative Party membership sign-ups
- Respond to inquiries and improve website experience
- Identify and encourage eligible individuals to become party members and support leadership election efforts
- Prevent fraud or misuse of campaign resources
Legal bases: Consent (opt-in), legal obligation (BC Election Act, CASL), and legitimate interests (effective campaign operations).
3. Information Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information. We may share it with:
- Stripe - secure payment processing for donations. We do not store full credit card numbers. Stripe Privacy Policy.
- Email service providers - to deliver campaign communications you opted into
- Google Analytics - website traffic analysis (data may reside on U.S. servers)
- BC Conservative Party - if you sign up for membership through our site, or for event coordination and voting reminders. You may opt out of this sharing by contacting us.
- Elections BC - mandatory donor reporting under the BC Election Act. Donations over $250 are publicly disclosed by Elections BC (donor name, amount, date); donations under $250 are reported in aggregate.
- As required by law - court orders, legal proceedings, investigations by Elections BC or privacy regulators
All service providers are contractually required to protect your information, use it only for specified purposes, and delete it when no longer needed.
International Data Transfers
Some service providers (Stripe, Google Analytics, email platforms) may store data on servers outside Canada, including in the United States. By using our Website and services, you consent to these transfers. We ensure providers use appropriate safeguards.
4. Consent & Your Choices
We obtain your consent through opt-in checkboxes on forms and clear consent language during interactions. You may choose separately whether to receive emails, text messages, phone calls, or have your data shared with the BC Conservative Party.
Withdrawing Consent / Opting Out
- Email: Click "Unsubscribe" at the bottom of any campaign email
- Text: Reply "STOP" to any message
- All communications: Email warrenhammmedia@gmail.com with "Unsubscribe" in the subject line
After opting out, we may still contact you for administrative matters (donation receipts, event confirmations). Information required by law will be retained per Section 5.

After the retention period, personal information is securely deleted or anonymized. Anonymized data may be retained indefinitely for historical records.
6. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical, administrative, and physical safeguards:
- Technical: SSL/TLS encryption on all pages, PCI-compliant payment processing via Stripe, two-factor authentication for staff accounts, firewall protection, regular security updates
- Administrative: Access limited to authorized staff on a need-to-know basis, privacy training for staff and volunteers, written internal privacy policies
- Physical: Locked storage for paper records, secure disposal (shredding/wiping), restricted office access
No system is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach creating a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected individuals and the BC Privacy Commissioner (OIPC) within 72 hours, and Elections BC if donation records are involved. Report security concerns to warrenhammmedia@gmail.com with "SECURITY CONCERN" in the subject line.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Under PIPA, PIPEDA, and applicable law, you have the right to:
- Access - request a copy of your personal information
- Correction - request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected
- Deletion - request deletion of your data (subject to legal retention requirements such as the BC Election Act's 6-year donation retention)
- Data portability - receive your data in a machine-readable format (CSV or JSON)
- Withdraw consent - object to certain uses or opt out at any time

8. Children's Privacy
This Website is intended for individuals aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Individuals under 18 may browse the site and attend public events with parental supervision but cannot donate (BC Election Act). If we learn we have collected information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete it immediately. Contact warrenhammmedia@gmail.com if you believe this has occurred.

Purpose & Permitted Use
This Website supports Warren Hamm's campaign in the Leadership Election of the Conservative Party of British Columbia. You agree to use the Website only for lawful purposes and in a manner that does not infringe on the rights of others. Prohibited activities include:
- Harassing or causing distress to any person
- Transmitting obscene or offensive content
- Making contributions exceeding permitted limits or on behalf of another person
- Providing false or misleading information
- Circumventing contribution tracking or eligibility requirements
- Interfering with or attempting unauthorized access to Campaign systems
The Campaign reserves the right to refuse, void, or refund contributions and to restrict access where misuse is suspected.
Intellectual Property
All content on this Website, including text, graphics, logos, images, videos, and design, is the property of the Warren Hamm Leadership Campaign or its licensors and is protected by Canadian and international copyright law.
